Uhuru The Label, clothing design and upcycling studio will launch with the support of Renew Adelaide’s ‘Own It’ program, at GU Filmhouse at 128 Hindley Street in early July.
Kristyan Evele applied for the ‘Own It’ program with a vision to share her passion for new ways to manage clothing. Her journey in fashion was ignited when she spent time in Kenya, where she observed people being resourceful with clothing and fabrics. She established the label, Uhuru, which is Swahili for ‘freedom and independence’ in her TAFE studies.
The Own It Program is designed to support people aged 25 years and younger start a business through the Renew Adelaide program.
