Light, bright and full of character: your new creative HQ awaits!

Exterior of Epworth Building, with Gothic style architecture and eateries on the ground level.

This beautiful city studio could be the perfect home for that idea you’ve been dreaming up.

The space

Up on Level 1 of the historic Edments Building, this bright and airy studio is ready for your unique concept. The space – right next door to Renew Adelaide’s HQ – features polished floorboards, lofty ceilings and a gorgeous trio of arched windows looking out over Pirie Street.

There is no water supply to this tenancy, but it comes with shared amenities – recently renovated bathrooms, a communal kitchenette and wi-fi. There are a few stairs at the entrance to the building, with elevator access to the upper level.
Our favourite thing about the building? Cracking the window open and enjoying the scent of baking cupcakes in the morning or woodfire pizza in the afternoon, courtesy of our neighbours at BTS Cupcakes and Pizza e Mozzarella!

We don’t mind a bit of Pirie Street people-watching, either

The location

Epworth Building is a grand but welcoming masterpiece on Pirie Street, right around the corner from the Adelaide Town Hall. Home to an eclectic mix of independent businesses, studios and Renew Adelaide program graduates, it’s just a stone’s throw from Rundle Mall and Hindmarsh Square.

Renew Adelaide’s office is just next door, so we’ll be your new neighbours along with the likes of vinyl store Transition Records, designer Katya Komorova, and architecture and interior design studio Sans-Arc Studio.

PS: Did you know the Epworth Building was designed by the same architect as the iconic Beehive Corner? He was a big fan of all things Gothic!

Who you are

We’re after a concept that will bring some spark to this beautiful space. Something creative and curious that fits with the eclectic range of businesses housed in this beautiful building. You could be a design or photography studio, a ceramicist or a small gallery, or perhaps you’re a group of arts industry freelancers looking for somewhere to collaborate and bring clients for meetings. Many of Renew Adelaide alumni call the Epworth Building home, including creative agency albie.mgmt, basketball club Eastside Rams and arts and gaming co-working space ACOLAB.

If you think your concept can contribute some fresh energy to the building, come and take a look!

Frequently asked questions

Q

How does the Renew Adelaide program work?

A

We partner with property owners and agents to offer rent-free spaces to emerging businesses, allowing them to test their concept in the Adelaide CBD. You can read more about our program on the how it works page.

Q

How long is the rent-free period?

A

This differs with each space but the minimum term is a 30-day rolling licence. This means the licence continues each month, up until you or the lessor chooses to end the licence, giving 30 days notice. In some cases, we can negotiate a fixed rent-free period with our property partner anywhere up to 12 months, depending on your concept and the property owner’s goals.

Q

What is the benefit of being on the Renew program?

A

In addition to the rent-free space, Renew Adelaide acts as a support system for new ventures and can help in areas you might not have experience in – whether it’s budgeting, marketing, visual merchandising or legal. Becoming a Renew Adelaide venture also provides you with greater exposure through our marketing channels.

Q

How do I apply for this space?

A

If you’re interested in this space, we recommend you come along to an inspection to ask any questions you might have. From there, you can submit an application form via our website. Visit how to apply for full details on the application process.

Q

Can I apply without an inspection?

A

We strongly encourage you to attend an inspection, however, if you’re unable to attend you can still apply. If you are successful in progressing to the next stage of the application process we can arrange a private inspection.

Q

I’ve missed the application deadline, can I still apply?

A

If you see a space online but have missed the application deadline, it’s best to reach out to us to see if we’re still able to accept your application. Please be mindful we may be far along in the application process and may not be able to accept late applications. To avoid disappointment, please sign up to our mailing list on our website to be notified when new properties are available.
