Light-filled studio spaces in character building!

Cosy common area, with couch and cushions, a small bookshelf and a funky pink door frame painted on the wall.

Looking for an inspiring space filled with like-minded creatives and small businesses? If you need a space to work from or host public workshops, don’t miss this opportunity.

The space

The Rundle Collective is a vibrant, inclusive studio hub in the heart of Adelaide, supporting emerging and established artists, makers, and small creative businesses.

Founded in 2022 by Cassie Hutchinson and Nicholas Sharples via the Renew Adelaide program, The Rundle Collective’s mission is to provide a welcoming community where creative practitioners can thrive. It’s since grown into a buzzing collective of 30+ artists – painters, illustrators, photographers, designers, writers and more.

There are three open-plan studio spaces available via the Renew Adelaide program, offering a great place to work, create and network. Becoming part of this community gives you access not only to your own space, but to shared spaces including large event/meeting rooms (perfect for workshops), communal kitchen, chill zones and an outdoor area. Additionally, The Rundle Collective team offers mentoring and business support to their community members.

The location

The Rundle Collective is located on Gawler Place, just a hop, skip and a jump from Rundle Mall. This sought-after central location sets you right within the hum of the city – perfect for catching up with collaborators or customers.

You’ll find yourself nestled near tasty lunchtime hotspot Miss Mai, and across from essential services Officeworks and Australia Post.

The building sees plenty of foot traffic given its position near Adelaide’s primary shopping precinct, as well as from surrounding retailers and hospitality offerings. It’s a buzzing, bustling city location that’s perfect for any business looking for a convenient central location.

Who you are

All three tenancies are flexible, but are best suited to arts or studio-based concepts. Perhaps you’re looking for production space? Maybe you’re painting, developing or designing and need a spot to work from? Are you currently working from home and looking to connect with a creative community that you can bounce ideas around with? If so, this is the space for you!

The Rundle Collective is home to an engaged and supportive creative community. You’ll be joining a collective of visual, textile and mixed media artists, alongside designers, writers, game developers and more. We’re looking for operators who will embrace and make the most of this unique opportunity.

Frequently asked questions

Q

How does the Renew Adelaide program work?

A

We partner with property owners and agents to offer rent-free spaces to emerging businesses, allowing them to test their concept in the Adelaide CBD. You can read more about our program on the how it works page.

Q

How long is the rent-free period?

A

This differs with each space but the minimum term is a 30-day rolling licence. This means the licence continues each month, up until you or the lessor chooses to end the licence, giving 30 days notice. In some cases, we can negotiate a fixed rent-free period with our property partner anywhere up to 12 months, depending on your concept and the property owner’s goals.

Q

What is the benefit of being on the Renew program?

A

In addition to the rent-free space, Renew Adelaide acts as a support system for new ventures and can help in areas you might not have experience in – whether it’s budgeting, marketing, visual merchandising or legal. Becoming a Renew Adelaide venture also provides you with greater exposure through our marketing channels.

Q

How do I apply for this space?

A

If you’re interested in this space, we recommend you come along to an inspection to ask any questions you might have. From there, you can submit an application form via our website. Visit how to apply for full details on the application process.

Q

Can I apply without an inspection?

A

We strongly encourage you to attend an inspection, however, if you’re unable to attend you can still apply. If you are successful in progressing to the next stage of the application process we can arrange a private inspection.

Q

I’ve missed the application deadline, can I still apply?

A

If you see a space online but have missed the application deadline, it’s best to reach out to us to see if we’re still able to accept your application. Please be mindful we may be far along in the application process and may not be able to accept late applications. To avoid disappointment, please sign up to our mailing list on our website to be notified when new properties are available.
